About Us

The Worcester Advocates is a nonpartisan group of like-minded residents and supporters dedicated to advancing the implementation of Thoughtful Development of land in Worcester Township. Worcester Advocates is affiliated with Friends of Worcester. Funds raised via fundraisers and donation requests help defray the cost of mobilizing citizens around development issues and other associated activities.

Worcester residents frequently ask,

“What do you mean by Thoughtful Development?”

This is our response:

Thoughtful Development is when development plans for new homes or commercial buildings consider the desires of a community, aesthetics sympathetic to the surroundings, and  protection of green space.

Specifically,

  1. Do setbacks obscure the buildings? Bellflower is a good example of a development that expresses this aesthetic.

  2. Do housing developments allow for open space? Whitehall Estates was built with this in mind.

  3. Are wastewater management plans protecting our streams and protecting surrounding properties from flooding?

  4. Is traffic congestion and traffic flow being considered? The Trooper Ridge developer is redesigning egress and ingress for this reason.
